The changing seasons on this Lazy Susan are more appropriate than ever!

Greetings from sunny and warm Stowe Vermont!  Yes, it sounds funny saying that in the middle of January but when its almost 60 degrees out…..

The skiing has been great with epic powder that has now turned to spring-like corn. This week it’s going to turn back to winter with normal January temps and more powder on the way!  We had a great holiday season and wanted to thank everyone who ‘kept it local’  supporting small business’ and American artisans.    Our fingers are tired from tying hand made ribbons and bows.

Our Facebook page just hit 500 ‘likes’ and we will be doing some great giveaways and contests in celebration of this so make sure to go to our fb page www.facebook.com/stowecraft and click ‘like’ to have a chance to win.  chair-footstool_tn

Lastly we wanted to let you know this week we are thrilled to be able to offer a storewide Sticks furniture sale.  This is a rare occasion so be sure to take advantage of 20% off everything in-store, on-line and even special orders.  Hurry, the sale ends this Friday.  In case you forgot, Sticks is the colorful wood furniture with beautiful paintings and inspiring sayings that have been carved into the pieces.  Call us and we’d be happy to help you pick out a piece that would fill your life with style.

Happy New Year,

Polly Whitcomb

We have recently had the privilege to host an open reception for Ms. Polly Whitcomb.  Recently returned home from New Mexico to her roots in Vermont, Polly a potter and sculptor joined us at Stowe Craft and Design. Ms. Whitcomb has studied painting and ceramics and spent several years training in Zen Buddhism.  Her demeanor is very much calming and beautiful to be near.

Asking for more “garbage”

According to Ms. Whitcomb, “There is a difference in the found pieces in the east coast vs. the west; erosion, rust and weathering effects are very different. There is a lace effect in the eastern metals after deterioration. More full pieces can be found out west.”  Her sculpture are a juxtaposition of deteriorating materials and the seed-like new life of clay forms. The process is a partnership between elements chosen and what I bring to it.”  Polly has a very unique take on what some may find as rubbish she creates wonders.

Irene Spared Stowe!

Lodges, Restaurants, Shops ( including Stowe Craft Gallery & Stowe Craft Design Center) and Attractions are ALL OPEN and unaffected by this weekend’s
storm.
You are probably seeing on the news all the destructive affects tropical storm Irene
has had on Vermont. While there are areas of the state that suffered serious flooding
damage — and we are hopeful for a swift clean-up — Stowe was unaffected. All roads
leading into Stowe are clear, and our mountain resort town is operating as usual!

All the things that you love to do in Stowe are open and ready to welcome you this
weekend, or this fall, or anytime you’d like to visit!
