Stowe Interior Design

The Interior Design Center and some history…

Stowe Interior Design Center located in the heart of the village.

In 1978 Susan Bayer Fishman opened Shimmering Glass in Waterbury, Vermont. The shop began as a tiny stained glass studio in Susan’s home. Working alone, Susan designed and fabricated stained glass windows and lamps and took care of her children.

The shop gradually expanded into her living room with blown glass, Tiffany-style lamps, jewelry and kaleidoscopes.

In 1995, Stephen joined Susan and they purchased the Stowe Craft Gallery (established in 1967). The Stowe store is in Stowe village, home of Stowe Mountain Resort ski area, Trapp Family Lodge and many fine dining, shopping, art and recreational activities.

In 1997 our Interior Design Center took shape. Stowe Craft always has always featured unique displays. Over the years, more and more customers were asking Susan to help them select, coordinate and place art and craft in their homes. In 1997, an interesting building became available and Stowe Craft Interior Design Center was opened. It is located at the end of the Stowe Craft parking area, on Rt 100, next to the Mobil gas station. To keep everything (somewhat) managable, the Shimmering Glass store on Route 100 was closed and moved to Stowe.

Later that year, the galleries achieved national recognition being nominated as a top 100 gallery of American Craft.

Tender, Sweet and Useful – Handmade Jewelry Boxes

Women love pretty little things, especially jewelry. Stunning pieces of jewelry make the most marvelous accessories to complete one’s look. You can’t help but admire a woman who looks beautiful and classy wearing pieces that complement her clothing.

To ensure that no harm comes to these striking pieces of art, it’s important that they’re kept in a safe place. You want to make sure that your jewelries are protected so they don’t get any scratches, bumps or bruises. This is why jewelry boxes were invented.

At Stowecraft’s, we don’t carry your typical jewelry box. Ours are handmade wood jewelry boxes, beautifully crafted and stunningly made. The exteriors are classic in appearance while the interiors are wonderfully etched to make the perfect bed for your jewels. With fabric lines that are thick and soft, these jewelry boxes ensure that each piece of your jewelry stands alone so that it won’t hit or scratch another piece.

Sabra Field stunningly captures the essence of Vermont with her contemporary woodcut prints. She has been publishing hand-pulled wood block prints from her studio since 1969, using traditional and contemporary techniques and methods. Her work has been featured in several magazine covers as well as over 50 art shows – she has even been singled out by Vermont Governors Kunin and Dean for her amazing printmaking.

One of the main techniques that Sabra uses in her printmaking is the Giclee Technology. She was an early user of this method, which uses sophisticated computer scanning and printing technology to reproduce exact copies of the striking and original art prints.

You can choose to purchase her art prints with or without a frame. We recommend that you get the frame as well since they are custom made by Lassie Barile, a local framing specialist. She uses a custom blend of natural dyes on the wooden frames to perfectly complement Sabra Field Art Prints, making the picture the highlight of the piece.
